ArmInfo. At least for Russia the keys of South Caucasus are in Yerevan, such point of view was expressed by the head of New York office of Democracy Institute and Cooperation, Russian political expert Andranik Migranyan during the press conference in Yerevan on July 20.
According to him, there are different points of view, that the keys of South Caucasus are either in Baku or in Tbilisi, however in reality they are in Yerevan, at least for Moscow. "And if, suddenly, something tragic about Nagorno-Karabakh issue will happen, Russia will lose South Caucasus, " the political expert said.
At the same time, he stressed that Russia strives to settle Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, but in its own interests, that is, not at the expense of its own interests in Azerbaijan, but at the same time retaining allied relations with Armenia. "Undoubtedly, Russia has its own interests in the region, and the settlement of Karabakh issue is among these interests. South Caucasus is a strategic region and naturally Russia does not want to be pushed out of here, but it wants to resolve the issue in its favor. Of course, this dual position of Russia leaves its imprint on the processes in the region, "said the expert.
He also thinks that Russia tries to extend its influence in post-Soviet space, but the methods to achieve this goal are not very successful.
