Anti-Government Slogans At A Rally Near The Monument To Rasulzade

Baku. About 1,000 people took part in a celebratory rally on the occasion of Republic Day at the monument to  Mahammad Emin Rasulzade  in the village of Novkhani.  They were representatives of the "Public Chamber", "Karabakh" Bloc, Civil Solidarity Party, etc.

They made a march from the main road to the monument, holding up flags of Azerbaijan and chanting "Freedom!", "Resign!".

Speaking at the rally, the leader of the party "Musavat" Isa Gambar said that Azerbaijani people twice  found freedom, in 1918 and 1991.

"We will achieve this third time, and will return power to the people through democratic elections," said Gambar.

The leader of the Democratic Party Sardar Jalaloglu said that the regime  which  has organized competition "Eurovision" on a high level,  does not pay attention to the Republic Day.

The authorities are doing this intentionally, because they are alien to the ideas of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic (1918-20), democracy and freedom.

Member of the "Public Chamber" Panah Huseynov noted the inevitability of the resignation of the ruling regime. He believes that it will happen  in less than a year peacefully.

The leader of the Popular Front Party Ali Kerimli quoted the late leader of the Popular Front party Abulfaz Elchibey: " We have brought  independence to  Azerbaijan, and  we will bring freedom to the people of Azerbaijan."

According to Kerimli, the power in Azerbaijan is  illegitimate. " For 20 years we can not liberate the occupied territories, and  for 40 years  we  cannot  get rid of the Aliyev regime. Therefore, we have two tasks: to liberate our lands, and  to change the dynastic regime  through  elections," Kerimli said.

Despite the presence of the police forces on the adjacent territory, the action took place without excesses.
