Giya Gvazava" Attack on Ankvab is Result of Clans Confrontation

  • Thursday, February 23, 01:46

Tbilisi. In opinion of chairman of the legitimate Supreme Council of Abkhaz autonomous republic  Giya Gvazava, the attack on de-factor president of Abkhazia Alexander Ankvab is a result of confrontation between the influential clans.

On Wednesday, February 22, unknown persons fired at Alexander Ankvab's car, as a result three officials of the life-guard were wounded one died.

"There are many versions connected with this attack, but it is a fact that beginning from the moment of coming to power Ankvab began struggle against corruptive officials, criminal and drug business, some representatives of de-factor law enforcement bodies were arrested, many  of them are wanted", Gvazava told the BLACK SEA PRESS correspondent.

According to him, there are political groups on the occupied Georgian territory - Abkhazia, that are "offended that they failed to win at elections".

"There are very influential, strong clans in  Abkhazia that have rooted  in Moscow, in the Kremlin. We will see later whom Ankvab did not suit", he noted.

"Naturally, the Kremlin is guilty in events in Abkhazia, but unrests do not suit Moscow as it wants to show the world community that law rules on this territory", Gvazava stressed.

In  his words, it is unlikely that separatist authorities will use the existing situation for exerting pressure on the Georgian population or toughening measures.

Alexander Ankvab was attacked several times, he was wounded twice during previous attacks. No one attack has been investigated. The last attack was on September 23, 2010, his house in village Likhni was fired at from grenade dischargers. He was wounded into a leg and an arm.
