Baku. On Tuesday, the European Court of Human Rights published rulings on two other complaints from Azerbaijan by recognizing the violation of the rights of Beybala Abil and Khanhuseyn Aliyev in the parliamentary elections in 2005, according to the head of the Legal Enlightenment Society Intigam Aliyev.
Abil was a candidate on the 11th district of Garadag from the <Classic" Popular Front Party (CPPF) of Azerbaijan.
Aliyev was a candidate from 58-th Hajigabul-Kurdamir district from the YeS Bloc. Both candidates were officially registered by the district voter commissions, but their registration was revoked.
In both cases, the court found violations of the applicants' rights to free elections and decided to pay them compensation 7500 Euro to each. Abil is to be paid additional compensation at a rate of 1600 Euro for legal costs. Abil's rights defended Intigam Aliyev, and the rights of Aliyev were defended by the human rights activist Eldar Zeynalov. Abil is the deputy chairman of CPPF, and H. Aliyev is the head of the "Gaya" company disseminating press.
Commenting on the court decision Intigam Aliyev said that one of the most common violations in the last two elections was de-registration of candidates.
Thus, the ECHR has once again evaluated lawlessness in Azerbaijan. Until now, the ECHR had adopted 17 decisions on complaints to the elections in Azerbaijan, and it testifies that the results of elections have been falsified.
At the same time, the decisions of the ECHR have become the result of the struggle of Azerbaijani society for free elections and democracy.
