Marat Terterov: Armenia’s long term security will be better served by strengthening economic security, rather than defining national security on the basis of the Tsarist Russian catch-cry “armiya i flot”
Edward Sharmazanov and Hermine Naghdalyan have been elected Vice Speakers of the Armenian Parliament.
To recall, during the May 30 session of the executive body of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, their candidacies were nominated by the RPA Leader, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan.
During the May 31 voting, Sharmazanov's candidacy received 91 votes "pro" and 11 votes "contra". A total of 102 MPs took part in the voting. Naghdalyan's candidacy received 89 votes "pro" and 10 votes "contra". Three ballot papers were invalid.
The new Vice Speaker expressed their gratitude for the parliamentarians' high confidence and assured them that their activities will contribute to improvement of the quality of the parliament's work, as well as to enhancement of its democratic nature.
