Marat Terterov: Armenia’s long term security will be better served by strengthening economic security, rather than defining national security on the basis of the Tsarist Russian catch-cry “armiya i flot”
Armenia's situation directly depends on the political changes in the superpowers. The republic depends not only on its close neighbors but also on
such countries like the USA, Russia and France. In case of election of Mitt Romney US president, the relevant political changes in the USA may negatively affect Armenia, political expert Sergey Shakaryants said at today's press-conference.
He also added that US attack on Iran will directly affect Armenia first of all in the economic and trade sense. As for Russia and France, their foreign policy will hardly change in the near future, he said.
However, Russia's policy will be harsher regarding not only the West but the post-Soviet countries too. "It is clear that only two countries will say "yes" to Russia - they are Kazakhstan and Belarus. As for the rest countries, Russia will treat them harsher than expected. Putin's statement, one must not play
games with Russia, shows that Moscow will conduct its foreign policy under the slogan "the whole world is mine", - Shakaryants said.
