SINCE NOV 23 DEBTORS OF "YEREVAN POWER NETWORKS" SCJSC TO BE DEPRIVED OF ELECTRICITY

NOVEMBER 21. Since 12 o'clock at the night of Nov 23 the power cuts will begin in Yerevan. All the debtors of the "Yerevan power networks" SCJSC will be deprived of electricity. As the deputy director of the "Yerevan power networks" Aram Ananyan informed an ARMINFO correspondent, the power cuts have already been started in Armenian capital. The current debts of the population make 1.050 bln drams, and for the period since 1997 - about 6 bln drams. The power transmission lines of the electric transport of the capital will also be de-energized. The debts of the electric transport made 875 mln drams. Touching upon the problem of disconnection of the pumps of the system of drinking water of Yerevan's consumers, Ananyan mentioned that presently negotiations are being conducted for repayment of the debt at 1.7 bln drams and it is possible these measures will not apply to the water supply of the city. The heating economy of the capital, having debts at 125 mln drams, till the end of the month must repay its debts, in order to have an opportunity to begin the heating supply of the city, Ananyan mentioned. Besides, it is planned to begin power cuts in hospitals, kindergartens and other institutions, which have debts. The industrial enterprises of Yerevan like "Shinnik" and "Yeraz" has been already deprived of electricity. In particular, the debts of the "Shinnik" for this month made 30 mln drams. According to Aram Ananyan, in Nov the above-norm losses of the "Yerevan power networks" SCJSC made 7.1%, and last year 9.6%. The SCJSC takes measures for constant reduction of this showing. The normative losses this month made 19.9%, in Oct - 12%. 7.5 meters of double tariff has been placed in the city.
