SUSPECTS IN MURDER OF AZERI MP ARRESTED DURING SPECIAL OPERATION JUNE 17. Two suspects in the murder of an Azeri MP were detained in the Kirovagrad region, the Ukraine. According to "Echo" newspaper, the arrestees may be concerned in the death of the Milli Mejlis member, academician Zia Buniatov. According to the information of the UNIAN and Mignews agencies, one of the detainees, the 32-year-old Azeri citizen A.. had been wanted since the August of 2000 being accused of the murder of the Azeri MP and of the illegal export of funds to Iran. The Ministry of the Interior reported that in the course of the special operation, two persons were arrested being charged with the murder of the Azeri MP, as well as with other heavy crimes. The department did not mentioned the names of the detainees in the interests of the investigation. Besides, the name of the killed MP was not announced, as at present the issue of the detainees' extradition to Azerbaijan is settled through negotiations between the law-enforcement bodies of the two states.- |
